about
Inspired by the esoteric interpretation of the story of the Magi (wise men, 3 kings etc) by Paramahansa Yogananda & the referenced Gnostic Gospel of the Infancy of Jesus Christ as translated by William Hone. The star they see becomes an intuitive star visible within them leading them to their destination to see the child. The 'Christ consciousness' eminent in the light within (star) is also throughout creation as mother nature. The Infancy.. states that upon leaving Mary gave the Magi a swaddling cloth worn by Jesus. It was custom to worship such a cloth and then destroy it in a fire (non attachment act to the physical i guess). They did that but it didn't catch fire. Whether it's true or not is beside the point. It's a great addition to the ancient story and it lends my 'glowing friend' another tale to add to the wonder of it all. I pronounce Magi (Mayee) in the original Coptic or Greek because it sounds much better than it does in English.
lyrics
The Magi & the star
From the East, Magi had come
Guided by the Eastern Star
Mountains, oceans, deserts far
Glowing- gold, blue & white
They only had one goal divine
To bow before the holy child
The star ablaze between their eyes
Glowing, gold blue & white
Gold, blue & white
A golden light- a ring of love
A blue beyond the sky above
A silver white, purer than a dove
The colours of the Eastern Star
(They gave)
Gold in gratitude of grace
Frankincense for devotion’s flame
Myrrh for the sacrifice he’d make
Ever glowing- gold, blue & white
Gold, blue & white
Gold, blue & white
At their depart Mary gave to them
A swaddling cloth worn by the babe
Kings & queens from afar they came
Drawn to the gold, blue & white
They made a fire & huddled near
Worshipped the cloth that was so dear
Cast to the flames but it wouldn’t sear
Glowing, gold blue & white
Gold, blue & white
Gold, blue & white
Gold, blue & white
